Harman Singh Kapoor, the owner of a Sikh restaurant in London, and his family say they have been subjected to ongoing online threats as a result of sharing a video about the Khalistan movement on social media, according to Khalsa Vox.

This occurs despite numerous police assurances of safety and unique safety measures. According to Khalsa Vox, a website that covers news about Punjab politics, history, culture, and heritage, the family has been the target of three attacks and does not feel safe.

Following last month’s vandalism at the Indian High Commission in London, supporters of Khalistan attacked Harman’s restaurant.

After that, Harman posted a video that received two million views in just two days, which prompted threatening phone calls, online harassment, and social media trolls to target him and his family.

After posting a video on TikTok in which he stated, “This Khalistan movement started a while back and then it died down,” he claimed that the threats started to come his way. A portion of people who have settled in Canada, England, and Australia once more support Khalistan, but those in India oppose it.

Harman claimed that after the video, he started getting death threats and that people started attacking his restaurant. He was threatened with death if he didn’t take down the video, shout pro-Khalistan, and burn the Indian flag.

Harman claimed that threats of rape were even made against his wife and daughter. “Calls to rape and kill them were posted online along with our address. Also posted online were videos of criminals licking images of my wife and daughter, he continued, according to Bitter Winter.

Concerns about the growing influence of pro-Khalistan extremists within the British Sikh community were raised in an independent report that former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson commissioned, according to Khalsa Vox.

The Rishi Sunak administration has been urged to address the problem quickly and protect the majority of Sikhs in the UK who do not subscribe to the extremist ideology, according to the independent Bloom Review, which was commissioned by former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The urgency of addressing the problem was emphasised in the report. According to Khalsa Vox, the report mentioned that the Sikh communities in the UK are subject to coercion and intimidation by extremist Khalistani elements. These pro-Khalistan organisations lobby political figures under the guise of human rights activism, which artificially increases their influence and draws excessive attention.

According to the news report, pro-Khalistan organisations’ actions project a false sense of legitimacy that is at odds with the Sikh faith. It is critical to recognise that, according to the Khalsa Vox report, the majority of British Sikh communities do not share the views of Khalistani separatists.
