After the tech giant announced plans to remove his social media company from its advertising platform, Twitter CEO Elon Musk threatened to sue Microsoft. They conducted illegal training using Twitter data. Time for a lawsuit,” Musk tweeted.

The tech giant had previously announced in a notice that starting on April 25, its advertising platform “will no longer support Twitter.”The action was taken in response to Twitter charging $42,000 (about Rs. 34,51,600) per month for access to its API.

“Starting April 25, 2023, Smart Campaigns with Multi-platform will no longer support Twitter,” Microsoft announced. A similar email has begun to be sent to Microsoft Advertising users, stating that “Digital Marketing Centre (DMC) will no longer support Twitter starting on April 25, 2023.”

One day after Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, spoke at a significant marketing and advertising conference, Microsoft made its announcement.Musk made an effort to entice brands back to the platform at the event after his takeover of Twitter cost it half of its top advertisers.

Musk, a billionaire who last year purchased Twitter, is changing the company’s policy so that businesses must pay a fee for access to its stream of data.Previously, the Microsoft Advertising feature allowed advertisers to manage all of their social media accounts on one platform. Users could reply to messages sent via Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter as well as direct messages (DMs).

Although Microsft’s social media service was free for advertisers to use, it was prominently displayed in the Digital Marketing Centre dashboard for Microsoft Advertising. It complemented the platform’s paid social and search advertising tools, which assisted companies in running and managing their paid ad campaigns on websites like Google Ads, Facebook and Instagram, as well as Micrsoft’s search advertising.

From ads that were produced, managed, and run through its Advertising platform, Microsoft earned more than $12 billion (approximately Rs 98,600 crore) in digital advertising revenue last year.
