Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund

Amitabh Bachchan’s film Jhund has been released in theaters on March 4, although the film was making headlines even before its release. South filmmaker Nandi Chinni Kumar filed a copyright infringement case against the filmmakers. A settlement was reached in this matter, but Nandi was again demanding to stop the film. Now the Telangana court has dismissed Nandi’s petition and imposed a fine of 10 lakhs on him.

Nandi Chinni filed a petition in the court to stop the release of Jhund, saying that last time the agreement was fake and the release of this film should be stopped. The Ranga Reddy Court of Telangana, while rejecting this petition, imposed a fine of 10 lakhs on Nandi himself. This amount will be deposited in PM Care Fund.

What is the whole matter?

South filmmaker Nandi Chinni Kumar had accused the film of copyright infringement two years ago. Jhund film was supposed to release on the OTT platform last year, but after the matter came to light, the Supreme Court had stayed its release. In the year 2021, there was an agreement of Rs 1.3 crore between the two parties, but Nandi Kumar recently called this agreement based on fraud and false statements.

Why was there an allegation of copyright infringement?

Jhund, which released on March 4, is based on the real life of Slum Soccer Foundation founder and coach Vijay Barse. Vijay Barse also coached Akhilesh Paul, who is an important part of his story. The story of Vijay is not possible without Akhilesh. Nandi Chinni had in 2017 bought the rights to make a film on Akhilesh Paul’s story in his name. When he came to know that a Bollywood film is being made on Vijay Barse, he raised his voice against it.
