Big decision of Jagan Mohan Reddy government to create 13 new districts simultaneously in Andhra Pradesh

13 new districts have come into existence in Andhra Pradesh from today. After the formation of 13 new districts in the state by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government, now the total number of districts has increased to 26. Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday launched 13 new districts of the state through video conferencing at Tadepalli in Guntur district. In the 2019 assembly elections, Reddy had promised that his party would make each Lok Sabha constituency a district if voted to power in the state. The state has a total of 25 Lok Sabha seats. The number of districts has now increased to 26.

  2. Anakapalli district carved out of Visakhapatnam district
  3. Alluri Sitarama Raju carved out of Visakhapatnam district
  4. Kakinada carved out of East Godavari district
  5. Konaseema carved out of East Godavari district
  6. Eluru carved out of West Godavari district
  7. Palnadu carved out of Guntur district
  8. Bapatla carved out of Guntur district
  9. Nandyal carved out of Kurnool district
  10. Sri Satya Sai district carved out of Anantapur
  11. NT Rama Rao district carved out of the existing Krishna district.
  12. Sri Balaji carved out of Chittoor district
  13. Annamaya carved out of Kadapa district

In 2014 there were 13 districts left

Only 13 districts left in Andhra Pradesh after Telangana became a separate state in 2014,. In January, the Andhra Pradesh government issued a draft notification to create 26 districts out of the existing 13.

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy had directed the officials to streamline the office allotment process for the new districts. The officials were told to mark their attendance at all the new 13 district offices on April 4 and start functioning.

Appointment of DM and SP in new districts

On 6th April, the Chief Minister will felicitate all the volunteers working tirelessly in the formation of 13 new districts in all the village and ward secretariats. Following a gazette notification on Saturday, the YSR Congress government led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy reshuffled IAS and IPS officers and appointed DMs and SPs in new districts.
