According to officials, a former secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Staff Service Commission (HPSSC) has been detained by the state vigilance department in connection with the Junior Office Assistant (Information Technology) exam paper leak case.

On Tuesday, Jatinder Kumar was summoned to the Hamirpur vigilance police station for questioning in relation to the case, and he was subsequently taken into custody.

In accordance with Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act of 1988, permission will be requested from the government on April 1 in order to file a FIR against highly placed officials who are being investigated in the case, according to DIG of the Vigilance Bureau G Shiva Kumar.

According to what he had said, the former secretary of the commission had been called in for questioning on numerous occasions, and additional investigation was ongoing against him.

Leaks have been found thus far in about 30 tests that the HPSSC has previously administered. Five FIRs have been filed thus far as a result of the vigilance department’s investigation into irregularities in 22 exams. In relation to the paper leak cases, 15 people in total have been detained.

On December 23 of last year, the vigilance sleuths caught HPSSC senior assistant Uma Azad red-handed with the solved test paper and cash totaling  2.5 lakh, along with a laptop and other papers, exposing the JOA (IT) paper leak scam.

Due to the leak of the recruitment exam papers, the state government suspended the HPSSC’s operations and rescheduled all tests.
