Arun Subramanian Appointed As New York Court’s First Indian-American Judge

Over a billion dollars have been successfully recovered by Arun Subramanian for both public and private organisations that had fallen victim to fraud and other illegal activity.

Arun Subramanian, an attorney, has been appointed as the first Indian American judge of the Manhattan Federal District Court in New York. The Senate Judiciary Committee stated on Twitter that Mr. Arun Subramanian has worked as a clerk at every level of the federal judiciary and has been directly involved in every aspect of civil litigation.

The nomination of Mr. Arun Subramanian for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York was first made public by US President Joe Biden in September 2022.

According to an official statement from the White House, President Biden’s announcement brought the total number of announced federal judicial nominees to 143. This is Biden’s 26th round of nominees for judicial positions and his thirteenth slate of nominations in 2022.

According to the statement, Mr. Arun Subramanian earned his BA from Case Western Reserve University in 2001 and his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Columbia Law School in 2004.

He has been employed since 2007 as a partner at Susman Godfrey LLP in New York.

According to the Susman Godfrey website, Mr. Arun Subramanian also worked as a law clerk for Judge Dennis Jacobs on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 2004 to 2005, Judge Gerard E. Lynch on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York from 2005 to 2006, and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the United States Supreme Court from 2006 to 2007.

The lawyer of Indian descent has taken up the cause of public entities in False Claims Act cases, victims of child pornography trafficking, consumers, and people harmed unfairly.

Notably, he participates in the legal community outside of the courtroom by taking on pro bono cases, and he has long been a member of the pro bono committee for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Arun Subramanian currently serves as Chairperson of Susman Godfrey’s 2022 Pro Bono Committee and is also a longtime Director of the Columbia Law Review, one of the Nation’s pre-eminent legal journals, the official website of Susman Godfrey stated.
