After leaving her job, the woman, according to police, was waiting for a bus near the Nayandahalli junction when she noticed the private school bus being driven by Shivakumar was headed in her direction. For a drop-off, she waved at the bus.
Shivakumar halted the bus and offered Nagarabhavi a ride, saying that he was also going in her direction. Around 5.30 p.m., as soon as she boarded the car, Shivakumar drove to the Male Mahadeshwara temple in Kailasagiri, some three kilometres from the Nayandahalli junction, and halted the bus there. Inside the bus, he raped her and beat, threatened, and harassed her.

He left her behind.
Around seven o’clock, he dropped her off after cautioning her against approaching the police or telling anyone about the incident.
