BJP's strategic meeting to win Goa again

A few hours before the results of Goa elections, a high level meeting of BJP MLAs has started. Senior party leader and Goa in-charge Devendra Fadnavis is discussing the strategy to form the government with all the 40 candidates tomorrow. Along with the sitting MLAs, those candidates are also included in the meeting, who have been given tickets by the party this time.

Senior party leader Dayanand Raghunath Sopte told Bhaskar that the Congress has kept its candidates in the hotel for two days because everyone there does whatever they want. Whereas in BJP, work is done only on the instructions of the organization. Sopte said, “As per the instructions received from the high command, the MLAs will choose their leader. The BJP government is going to be formed in Goa on Thursday.

BJP may tie up with MGP

BJP may form an alliance with Goa’s regional party MGP to form the government. Apart from this, the party is also in touch with independent candidates. There are around four independents who can win the election. It also includes Utpal Parrikar and Laxmikant Parsekar, who rebelled against the BJP.

There is a chance of both winning. If they win and the BJP does not get a majority, these leaders can be re-inducted into the party by giving them ministerial posts. Both of them did not get tickets from their desired seats, so they rebelled.

The government was formed by bringing only 13 seats

In 2017, BJP got only 13 seats. Congress won 17 out of 40 seats. Despite this, the Congress could not form the government, because at the time of the results, Nitin Gadkari and Amit Shah had reached Goa and formed the government with the help of regional parties.

Later about 15 Congress MLAs also joined the BJP. Nitin Gadkari’s relationship with MGP is said to be very good, this time BJP can get the benefit of it.

No one has majority in exit polls

No party got a clear majority in the exit polls held on Tuesday. In such a situation, both the parties have become active even before the results are out. Congress has kept all its candidates in hotels for two days and from P Chidambaram to DK Shivakumar are standing in Panaji.
