The company that owns Facebook hopes to have its new AI model ready by next year
According to persons familiar with the situation, the Wall Street Journal revealed on Sunday that Meta Platforms is developing a new artificial intelligence system that aims to be as powerful as the most sophisticated model made available by OpenAI.
According to the Journal, the Facebook parent is planning to get its new AI model available by the end of the year. It will be significantly more powerful than its Llama 2 commercial version.
In order to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard, Meta launched Llama 2, an open source AI language model, in July. Llama 2 is delivered using Microsoft’s cloud Azure services.
The technology, whose specifics could yet alter, would aid other businesses in creating services that generate complex text, analysis, and other output, according to the newspaper.
According to the study, Meta anticipates beginning the massive language model training process for its new AI system in early 2024.

Since the release of OpenAI’s ChatGPT late last year, businesses and enterprises have flocked to the emerging generative AI industry for expanded capabilities and streamlining business processes.
According to a July report by Bloomberg News, Apple is developing AI products that compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard. The publication also stated that Apple has developed its own framework, called “Ajax,” for building extensive language models and is now testing a chatbot that some engineers refer to as “Apple GPT.”
A potential building component for systems enabling real-time communication across language barriers, Meta released an AI model in August that can translate and transcribe speech in dozens of languages.
The business claimed in a blog post that their SeamlessM4T model could combine technology that was previously only accessible in separate models to provide translations between text and speech in roughly 100 languages as well as complete speech-to-speech translation for 35 languages.
