Covid Cases 2023 –

New Delhi: The number of new daily cases in the nation topped 500 on Saturday for the first time in 114 days as Covid cases grew steadily. The seven-day average has doubled over the past 11 days.

But, the total figures are still quite low, and the number of reported virus-related deaths—six in the previous seven days—has not increased.

The number of new covid cases reported in India on Saturday was 524, which was a daily high since November 18 of last year. 2,671 new cases have been reported in the last seven days, up 1,802 from the previous seven days’ total. The number of Covid cases across the nation has been steadily increasing for the past four weeks, marking the greatest sustained increase in infections since the pandemic’s initial surge in June-July of last year.

The majority of new cases are being reported from Maharashtra and the southern regions. Three states—Karnataka (584), Kerala (520), and Maharashtra—reported more than 500 new cases in the seven days that ended on Saturday (512).

Gujarat saw the largest increase in infections among the states that reported at least 100 new cases during this time. From 48 Covid cases in the previous seven days (February 26–March 4), the state’s caseload increased fourfold to 190 cases in the most recent seven (March 5-11). In that time, Tamil Nadu saw a 67% increase (224 cases), Telangana a 63% increase, and Maharashtra an 86% increase (197 cases).

In some other states, cases are slowly increasing, although the weekly totals there are still around 100. For example, Delhi reported 97 new Covid cases, an increase from 72 in the previous seven days.

From 193 Covid cases on February 28 to 382 cases on March 11, the seven-day average of daily cases in India has increased by half in the past 11 days. The doubling rate was close to 16 at the beginning of the month, indicating that the number of instances has been increasing more quickly lately. For a while now, the number of fatalities every week has stayed below 10. In the previous two seven-day periods, India reported six fatalities each.
