Dietician Radhika Mangal takes pills to end her life; suicide note found

JAIPUR: A 32-year-old woman dietician, identified as Radhika Mangal, committed suicide by consuming sleeping pills at her flat in the Pratap Nagar area on Monday night.

In her suicide note, the dieticians who worked at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Hospital stated that she had been fighting mental health issues for the past few months and appealed that no organization or company should take advantage of their employees. She also seated that she didn’t have any issues with anyone.

According to a police officer, Radhika Mangal was a resident of Sawai Madhopur. She had been living in a rented flat in Sector-8 of Pratap Nagar for the past two and a half years. 

Radhika wrote a suicide note upon arriving at the flat on Monday night, and subsequently consumed an excessive amount of sleeping pills. A

Radhika’s younger brother made many calls to her on Monday night but never got a response. He contacted the landlord and asked him to check on Radhika because he was worried about her welfare. Then, in order to speak with Radhika’s brother, the landlord went to her apartment.

Radhika was taken to a hospital by the police in a hurry, but due to her urgent condition, SMS Hospital was recommended. She passed away while receiving care at SMS Hospital. As the family members arrived on Tuesday afternoon, the police handed over the body after having a postmortem performed by a medical board.

She claimed in her suicide note that she didn’t have any problems with anyone and that she had been dealing with mental illness for the last five to six months. Also, she made reference of her precarious financial circumstances. She allegedly asked for a pay raise, but she didn’t get one. She became depressed as a result and was under a lot of job pressure.

“I started using sleeping pills, and I also had frequent fits of rage. I can’t take it anymore,” she penned.
