First Test: Saud Shakeel’s double century helped Pakistan defeat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets to take a 1-0 series lead

In the opening game of the two-Test series, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by four wickets

. In Galle, the first Test was held. Sri Lanka was all out for 279 runs in their second innings on the fourth day of the game, setting Pakistan a target of 131 runs. As a result, Pakistan was able to reach the target despite losing six wickets.

The Pakistani team now leads the series 1-0. Beginning on July 24, the second game will be held in Colombo. In the first innings, Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel notched an unblemished double century. In the second inning, he scored 30 runs. He received the player of the game award.

Pakistan scored 48/3 to lead the way on the fifth day. Pakistan had seven wickets in hand and needed 83 runs to win on the fifth and final day.

50 years of Imam-ul-Haq

On the fifth day, in the second innings, Babar Azam dealt the Pakistani team its fourth blow. By scoring 24 runs, Babar made Prabhat Jayasuriya his victim. Imam-ul-Haq scored 50 runs, Saud Shakeel scored 30, and Babar scored 24 runs in Pakistan’s second innings. In Sri Lanka’s second innings, Ramesh Mendis took one wicket while Prabhat Jayasuriya took four.

Play on the fourth day: Pakistan needs 83 runs to win.

With a score of 14/0, Sri Lanka got the fourth day off to a head start. In the second inning, the team scored 279 runs before being shut out. Dhananjay de Silva batted for 82 runs during his half-century. Abrar Ahmed and Nauman Ali each secured three wickets there. Pakistan received a 131-target from Sri Lanka. In the second innings, the team lost three wickets while scoring 48 runs. Pakistan now needs 83 runs.

The 50s of Madhushanka and de Silva

The innings of Sri Lanka reached 14/0 thanks to the opening pair of Nishan Madhushanka and captain Dimuth Karunaratne. 20 runs were scored by captain Karunaratne. Kushal Mendis scored 18 runs, and Angelo Mathews added 7. Both players went back to the pavilion. At the other end, Nishan Madhushanka played a 52-run half-century innings. After scoring 28 runs, Dimuth Chandimal also went back to the pavilion. The innings was taken over by Dhananjaya de Silva after he descended.

Together with Chandimal, he added 60 runs. Samvikrama was out after 11 runs were scored. A strong 76-run partnership between Ramesh Mendis and Silva followed. For another 42 runs, Mendis went back to the pavilion. Silva also scored 82 runs in 118 balls, using 10 sixes in the process.

After scoring 10 runs and 5 runs, respectively, Prabhat Jayasuriya and Kasun Rajitha went back to the pavilion. After scoring zero runs, Vishwa Fernando is still alive.
