Government makes 6 airbags mandatory in all passenger cars from this date

The government has announced the implementation of the proposal to make six airbags mandatory in the car. Along with this, the government has also informed that from which date six airbags will become mandatory in cars.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has informed on social media that from which date six airbags will be made mandatory in cars.

From which date six airbags will be mandatory
According to the information given by the Union Minister, from October 1, 2023, six airbags will become mandatory in passenger cars. Six airbags will become mandatory for safety in new cars made from October 1, 2023.

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari tweeted on social media that keeping in view the global supply constraints facing the auto industry and its impact on the macroeconomic scenario, passenger cars (M-1 category) with effect from 01 October 2023. It has been decided to implement the proposal making minimum 6 airbags mandatory.

companies are worried
Earlier some car makers had expressed concern over this decision of the government. Companies fear that due to this rule, the price of cars will increase and its direct effect will be on the sales of cars. According to an estimate, making six airbags mandatory could increase the price of cars in each segment by around Rs 20,000.

Gadkari has already expressed concern
Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has already expressed concern over this matter. Some time back, he had said in an interview to a channel that companies give six airbags in export cars, but when the same unit is made for India, only four airbags are given in it. The cost of making one airbag comes to just nine hundred rupees. If there is a large number of production, the cost of airbags will also come down significantly.
