MP Congress leader Raja Pateria

Credent Tv: Raja Pateria, who is thought to be a member of the Digvijaya Singh camp, is the target of Congress show-causes. He has made contentious remarks in the past as well.

Raja Pateria, a senior member of the Madhya Pradesh Congress, caused a stir when he urged supporters to “murder” Modi in order to protect the Constitution and the future of Dalits and minorities while speaking to party members at a gathering in the Pawai tehsil of the Panna district.

The police detained Pateria from his home in Panna on Tuesday morning after a FIR was filed against the Congress leader. Pateria asserted that he had been misunderstood while the BJP attacked the party. He has received a show-cause notice from the Congress.

In a video, Pateria can be heard telling a group of workers that “any pressure from the government or administration ought to be resisted. Since he presided over the Youth Congress, I have known the district Congress chairman. He won’t back down if he accepted your promise, though. I’m restating yesterday’s statement that Modi will win the election. He will create divisions based on language, caste, and religion. Dalits, Vanvasis, and other minorities are in danger of losing their lives. You must be prepared to assassinate Modi if we are to defend the Constitution. Hatya (murder), understood to mean “effort to beat him” (harane ka kaam karo).

BJP leaders criticised the Congress and its leaders shortly after his statement went viral. “The truth of people undertaking the play Bharat Jodo Yatra is coming to the fore,” stated chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The nation’s devotion and faith are focused on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who lives in the hearts of the people. The Congress leader is joking about killing Modi when they can’t compete with him on the ground.

In addition, Chouhan stated that a FIR was being filed and that the law will be followed. Pateria was soon taken into custody by Pawai police.

Pateria, a vice president in the Pradesh Congress Committee, said to The Indian Express that Ram Manohar Lohiya, BR Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru are his heroes. “My remark was misinterpreted. I intended to defeat the prime minister in elections, not kill him. It was about overthrowing the administration that backs (Nathuram) Godse’s philosophy rather than Mahatma Gandhi’s, he claimed.
