India 5G test download speeds hit 500 mbps: Ookla

Ookla compared the average 5G download speed across four cities where both Jio and Airtel have set up their 5G networks. Bharti Airtel has launched its 5G services in eight cities. Jio’s 5G beta trial, which the company is calling “Jio True 5G”, is available to select users in four cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Varanasi.

According to Ookla’s ‘Speedtest Intelligence’ report, data from June till date shows that the average 5G download speed of Airtel in the capital Delhi was 197.98 Mbps while the average 5G download speed on Jio’s network was recorded at a record 598.58 Mbps. This is more than three times the speed of Airtel.

The biggest difference in the average download speed of 5G was seen in Kolkata. Airtel’s average download speed was 33.83 Mbps while Jio’s average download speed was nearly 14 times higher at 482.02 Mbps.

Varanasi was the only city where the 5G speed competition between Jio and Airtel was very close. Airtel showed an average 5G average download speed of 516.57 Mbps against Jio’s 485.22 Mbps average download speed.

In Mumbai, one of India’s most densely populated cities, Airtel once again lags behind Jio, with Airtel’s average download speed of just 271.07 Mbps compared to Jio’s 515.38 Mbps average download speed as per data available from June 2022. Went.
