India won the Asia Cup for the eighth time after defeating Sri Lanka in the championship match by 10 wickets, with Siraj taking 6 wickets for 21 runs

The eighth time that Team India has won the Asia Cup. In the final game, played on Sunday at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo

India defeated Sri Lanka by a margin of 10 wickets.

With respect to the number of balls still in play, this is India’s largest victory. With 263 balls remaining, the team prevailed. Previously, Team India overcame Kenya in 2001 with 231 extra balls.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat in the championship game, Sri Lanka was dismissed for 50 runs in 15.2 overs. Team India responded by hitting 51 runs in 6.1 overs to win the match.

India has also been better at chasing the objective with the fewest balls played. Even though they batted only 37 balls, Team India won the game. 69 balls previously served as the record. India used this many balls to defeat Kenya in 2001.

Siraj gave the ground personnel the prize money.

Mohammad Siraj was chosen as the Player of the Final, and as such, he was awarded a prize of $5,000 (about Rs. 4 lakh). Siraj gave the grounds staff group this sum.

The ground workers received a donation of $50,000 (or roughly 40 lakh rupees) from the Asian Cricket Council. Rain impacted the majority of the Asia Cup matches, and the grounds crew put forth a lot of effort.

Indian team earned its first trophy in five years.

After 5 years, the Indian squad has finally won a trophy. The ODI Asia Cup was previously won by Team India in 2018. Rohit Sharma led the Indian team even back then.

Gil-Ishaan’s fifty-year partnership

Without losing a wicket, the Indian squad quickly reached the target of 51 runs in just 6.1 overs. Ishan Kishan and Shubhman Gill, the team’s openers, formed an opening partnership of 51 runs. Kishan played an inning with 23 runs while Gill played one with 27 runs in an unblemished performance.

The lowest ODI total by any team against India was scored by Sri Lanka, 50 runs.

The Sri Lankan side was all out for 50 runs after winning the toss and choosing to bat. Any team has never defeated India with a lower score than this.

Sri Lanka decided to bat first after winning the toss. The Sri Lankan batsmen were dismissed by Indian bowlers after 15.2 overs.

Hardik Pandya captured three wickets, while Mohammed Siraj claimed six. Jasprit Bumrah experienced some success.

Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh’s previous record.

In ODIs against India, this is the lowest score ever recorded by a team. Bangladesh previously recorded the lowest ODI score against India. In 2014, the Bangladeshi squad was shut down after 58 runs. Zimbabwe currently owns the ODI record for the lowest overall score. The Zimbabwean squad lost to Sri Lanka in 2004 after scoring 35 runs.

No batsman for Sri Lanka reached 20.

The Indian fast bowlers were having trouble with the Sri Lankan batting. No team batter could score more than 20 runs. The most productive innings were 17 runs by Kusal Mendis and 13 runs by Dushan Hemanth.

Powerplay: Sri Lanka’s batting order sputters

In the powerplay, Sri Lanka’s batting performance suffered. In 10 overs, the team lost 6 wickets for 33 runs. Bumrah only took one wicket, while Siraj claimed five wickets. Because of the circumstances, none of the team’s batsmen could score in the double figures.

Siraj tied the record set by Chaminda Vaas.

In ODI cricket, Mohammad Siraj has tied the global record for fewest balls needed to take 5 wickets. Siraj took 5 wickets off of 16 deliveries. In 2003, Chaminda Vaas of Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by taking 5 wickets in just 16 balls.
