Rajasthan’s government increases its intercaste marriage incentive to Rs 10 lakh.

The decision went into effect on Thursday and stipulates that intercaste marriage couples will receive 10 lakh rupees, of which 5 lakh rupees will be made as a fixed deposit for eight years and the remaining five lakh rupees will be deposited by opening a joint bank account of the couple.

The state government on Thursday raised the incentive amount for inter-caste marriage to Rs 10 lakh.
This was recently announced by the chief minister Ashok Gehlot in the budget for 2023–2024. The Dr. Savita Ben Ambedkar Inter-caste Marriage Scheme’s funding will be increased by Rs. 5 lakh, according to instructions released on Thursday by the department of social justice and empowerment. Formerly, the government offered an incentive of Rs. 5 lakh for intercaste unions.

he social justice and empowerment department has launched this scheme in 2006. Formerly, under this arrangement, Rs 50,000 were paid to the newly married pair. But in April 2013, it was raised to 5 lakh.
Under this arrangement, 75% of the amount is borne by the state government and 25% by the central government.An amount of Rs 33.55 crore has been released by the government in the last financial year and more than Rs 4.5 crore in the current financial year.

Either the boy or the girl must be a member of a Scheduled Caste in accordance with the program’s requirements. Everyone who is not more than 35 years of age, not have been convicted in any criminal case. The total income of the couple should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh per annum.
If the application is received within a year after the marriage date, the benefit under the scheme will be payable (first marriage only).
