J&K: The “cross-border” shipment included two IEDs with detonators that were not yet constructed, two Chinese pistols, four magazines holding 60 bullets, and Rs. 5 lakh in Rs. 500 bills.

In the Samba area of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, the Jammu & Kashmir Police discovered a shipment of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), pistols, and cash that had been dropped by a drone from the other side of the border.

“Following trustworthy information, a police team from the Vijaypur Police Station discovered a suspicious sealed bundle today in a field close to Chhani Manhasan in Samba. The shipment contained two unassembled IEDs with detonators, two Chinese pistols, four magazines holding 60 rounds, and Rs. 5 lakh in Rs. 500 bills, according to senior superintendent of police Abhishek Mahajan.

He told reporters that at around 6.15 am locals observed the package midway between Ramgarh and Vijaypur, perhaps five to six kilometres from the international border, and they alerted the police, according to news agency PTI.

The official added, according to ANI, “On the spot, we dialled the Bomb Disposal Squad. When the packet was opened, it was discovered to contain about Rs 5 lakhs in Indian currency, two Chinese pistols, four magazines, about 60 rounds of ammunition, a detonator, and two IEDs. We have started taking additional action.”

According to the SSP, he mentioned that the shipment was enclosed in a wooden box with a steel foundation.

“The drone was dropped over international borders. We are looking into it. The attempt to use the shipment for any undesirable incidence has been thwarted, “He said, according to a PTI report.

According to SSP Mahajan, the police squad and the locals will receive rewards.
