Joginder Sharma declares his departure from cricket in all its forms

Joginder Sharma: The player who took Misbah-ul-wicket Haq’s during the first T20 World Cup in 2007 to give India the title has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

In a statement, Joginder stated, “My journey from 2002 to 2017 has been the most amazing years of my life for it was an honor representing India at the greatest level of the sport.” “To all of my teammates, coaches, mentors, and support staff: It has been an amazing honor to play with you all, and I appreciate everything you have done to make my dream come true.

“I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be looking at new career options in the cricket and business worlds, where I can continue to play the sport I adore and push my limits in novel situations. I think this is the next phase of my development as a cricketer, and I am eager to start this new phase of my life.”

Between 2004 and 2007, Joginder Sharma played for India in four ODIs and as many T20Is, taking a total of five wickets. MS Dhoni, the captain, gave Joginder the ball to deliver the final over in the 2007 T20 World Cup match against Pakistan. He got Misbah to scoop to Sreesanth at short fine-leg with Pakistan needing six runs off four balls and one wicket remaining, which sparked the celebrations. He didn’t ever play again for India.

For the first four seasons of the IPL, he played for Chennai Super Kings and recorded 12 wickets in 16 games. He participated in 77 first-class games, 80 List-A games, and 43 T20 matches for Haryana in domestic cricket.

Joginder Sharma, a former cricket player who is still active today, joined the Haryana, India, police force and is currently a deputy superintendent of police. He participated in the 2022 Legends League Cricket event most recently and was on the front lines during the battle against Covid-19.
