KCR’s Daughter Kavitha QuestionedIn Delhi Liquor Policy Case

The state’s assembly elections are approaching in a few months, and K Kavitha, 44, claims the BJP is attempting to “intimidate” her father, who is seeking a third consecutive term in office.

The Enforcement Directorate is questioning K Kavitha, a leader in the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, over the matter involving the Delhi liquor policy. The same case led to the arrest of Manish Sisodia

• On Thursday, Ms. Kavitha was supposed to meet with the Enforcement Directorate (ED). She requested a postponement of her interrogation to today from the ED, and the central agency granted her request. She had been set to go on a hunger strike in Delhi on Friday to support the introduction of the Women’s Reservation Bill in parliament.
• Telangana cabinet ministers are now in front of K Kavitha’s house. Her mother and in-laws are also in Delhi, as is her brother and Telangana politician KT Rama Rao. Several ministers and party figures are making their way to the capital to show support for the daughter of the Telangana Chief Minister. Sabitha Indra Reddy, the minister of education, Satyavathi Rathod, the minister of women’s, children’s, and tribal affairs, V Srinivas Goud, the minister of tourism and excise, BB Patil, and Rajya Sabha Member K Keshava Rao had all arrived at her home.
• In Hyderabad, posters have surfaced displaying politicians from other parties who joined the BJP and are no longer subject to agency searches.
• Manish Sisodia, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and a former deputy chief minister of Delhi, is already in ED custody. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) also detained him for alleged corruption in the formulation of Delhi’s new alcohol policy, which was eventually abandoned.
• The “South Group,” a purported network of intermediaries, businessmen, and politicians, has been dubbed by the central agencies as a significant focus of the inquiry into the Delhi liquor policy case. The ED said that Mr. Sisodia modified the liquor policy in their favour without seeking input from other parties in order to assist the “South Group” of enterprises.
• Ms. Kavitha is one of the “South Group” individuals operating undercover. KCR, often known as her father K Chandrasekhar Rao, is a prominent opposition figure in the centre. As a result, accusations have been made that the BJP-led government is utilising government agencies to threaten opposition politicians.
• “There is no distinction between summonses issued by the Enforcement Directorate and those issued to (Narendra) Modi in India. Nowadays, the Enforcement Directorate always arrives before the PM whenever there is an election. What might the adversary do? Visit the Supreme Court or the People’s Court, “On Friday, Ms. Kavitha informed NDTV.
• A day prior to his sister being questioned by the ED, her brother, Telangana minister KT Rama Rao, also travelled to Delhi yesterday. KCR reportedly warned party leaders yesterday that they will strive to end the intimidation by the BJP’s adversary using government agencies. KCR declared, “Our fight will go on until the BJP is driven out of (power) in the nation.
• In reference to her father KCR, who is seeking a third consecutive term in power in the state where assembly elections are scheduled for a few months from now, Ms. Kavitha, 44, claimed that the BJP is attempting to “intimidate my leader”.
• Yesterday, during Mr. Sisodia’s case hearing in Delhi, his attorney criticised the ED for treating arrest as a right without following the proper legal procedures. “These days, it’s become common practise for the authorities to view arrests as a right. The moment has come for the courts to crack down severely on this entitlement mentality “Dayan Krishna, Mr. Sisodia’s attorney, stated.
