Lok Sabha Election Updates: 52.6% of voters cast ballots in 10 states and union territories as of 3 p.m.

Phase 4 Voting in India: For the more than 17.70 crore eligible voters in this phase, more than 19 lakh poll workers have been stationed at 1.92 lakh polling places

New Delhi: Today marks the start of the fourth round of voting in 96 Lok Sabha seats spread across ten states and Union Territories for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Currently, 1,717 applicants are competing in this round.

Ten states and union territories reported 52.6% voting turnout at 3 p.m. All 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana, all 25 seats in Andhra Pradesh, 13 seats in Uttar Pradesh, five seats in Bihar, four seats in Jharkhand, eight seats in Madhya Pradesh, eleven seats in Maharashtra, four seats in Odisha, eight seats in West Bengal, and one seat in Jammu and Kashmir are getting their elections today.

In addition, the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat is holding voting. This is Kashmir’s first significant election following the repeal of Article 370 in August 2019. In the fourth phase, voting will take place concurrently for all 175 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and 28 in Odisha.

For the more than 17.70 crore eligible voters in this round, more than 19 lakh poll workers have been assigned to 1.92 lakh polling locations.

Chief of the Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav, Union minister Giriraj Singh, fiery leader of the TMC Mohua Moitra and AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi, Congressman Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, former TMC cricket player Yusuf Pathan, and president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress YS Sharmila are among the notable contenders in the race.

From April 19 to June 1, there will be seven phases to the Lok Sabha elections. June 4 is the date set aside for the counting.
