Mahua Moitra was referring to the incident in which Kunal Kamra questioned journalist Arnab
Goswami’s work ethics and journalism called him a “coward” while he was traveling on an IndiGo flight abroad, for which the comedian was barred from flying on multiple airlines.
Mahua Moitra, a member of the Trinamool Congress, questioned the organization in charge of
overseeing civil aviation after Air India airlines decided to impose a 30-day flight ban on a man accused of peeing on a fellow passenger. She cited a previous incident in which comedian Kunal Kamra received a six-month flight ban from a number of airlines for allegedly “heckling” journalist Arnab Goswami.
Moitra was making reference to the event in which Kamra had criticized Arnab Goswami’s journalism and work ethics while calling him a “coward” on an IndiGo aircraft while in another country. Separately, Kamra had referred to Goswami as “mentally unstable” in a tweet. Several airlines, including the then-state-run Air India, banned Kamra from flying “until further notice” after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

Kamra also took a shot on Wednesday, sharing a screenshot of the airlines’ 2020 tweet banning him alongside another screenshot of the news about putting the accused man in the ‘urinating’ incident on a 30-day no-fly list. “2 Air Indias,” Kamra wrote in his tweet.
On November 26, a “drunk” guy is accused of peeing on a female co-passenger in the business class of a trip from New York to Delhi. The airline reported a police complaint, and as a first step, it suspended the offending traveler for 30 days. It has also established an internal committee to look into any mistakes made by the airline’s staff.
