Minister Pratap Singh Khachariya was furious when the Rajasthan Co-op Department received a shipment of ration kits worth Rs 3,000 crore

Jaipur – Food Minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas is irate about the state government’s choice to give the Rajasthan State Co-operative Consumer Federation Ltd (CONFED) control over the distribution of ration kits worth Rs 3,000 crores as opposed to the food department.
The minister asserted that the food department, which is the appropriate body to distribute kits as they are delivered to NFSA beneficiaries, was the recipient of the budget announcement.

Pratap Singh –

Said that the officials were playing a prank by moving the scheme to the cooperative department. The minister promised to discuss the situation with the chief minister.

To lessen the impact of inflation and price increases, the chief minister declared in the budget that ration kits will be delivered to around 1 crore families who are NFSA members each month. The estimated cost of each package containing food items is Rs 400. To the dismay of the food minister, the government decided that CONFED, under the cooperative department, which manages many department stores, would purchase the items for distribution without tender because it had so little time to implement the plan before the announcement of the assembly elections.

The minister believes it to be a plot. He told the media, “My department’s task has been transferred to another department; what further use does the food department have? I’ll consult with the chief minister. He questioned why this new duty was granted since CONFED was unable to complete the work that was already assigned to it and received several complaints.

According to Pratap Singh, the food department could handle the ration kit program quite successfully.

“Our method for distributing ration wheat is unfailing. We are using POS devices to distribute wheat. CONFED is operating without a nomination for a tender. The Rajasthan Transparency in Public Procurement (RTPP) Act governs our work with tenders.
