Before Mumbai could triumph, Tilak-David’s Finnish players Suryakumar and Ishaan were dismissed. Following this, Tilak Verma and Tim David each scored 26 points off 10 balls to defeat Punjab with 7 balls remaining.

Shikhar Dhawan, the captain of Punjab, was out after 30 runs. Joffra Archer missed an easy catch on Kumar Kartikeya’s ball in the seventh over. At this point, he had run 23 innings. After that, he only played two balls before being stumped by Piyush Chawla in the following over. In 20 balls, Dhawan scored 30 runs.

Later, Piyush also removed Matthew Short from the game. In his four overs, he only allowed 29 runs.

Punjab reached 200 thanks to Jitesh-Livingstone.

After reaching fifty, Liam Livingstone, who was positioned at the opposite end, hit three sixes off of Joffra Archer in one over. Punjab’s total was increased to 200 runs thanks to a 119-run partnership between Jitesh and Livingstone. Prabhsimran Singh scored 9 runs, Shikhar Dhawan scored 30 runs, and Matthew Short scored 27 runs for the rest of the Punjab batsmen. From Mumbai, Piyush Chawla took two wickets and Arshad Khan one.

In the first IPL games, Suryakumar Yadav appeared out of sorts. In the fourth game, Surya scored his third fifty. But by scoring 3 fifties in the last 4 games, he has demonstrated a return to form. He scored fifty against Punjab, his second of the season after scoring fifty against Rajasthan. In the first five games prior to the final four games, Surya was unable to even pass the 30-run threshold.

After scoring 66 runs in 31 balls, Nathan Ellis started to take advantage of Surya. He was caught by the third man fielder while attempting to hit the ball outside the off stump over the third man. Ishaan Kishan and Surya combined for 116 runs in just 55 balls.

Both teams arrived with modifications

Riley Meredith of Mumbai was injured and was replaced by Akash Madhwal in the game. Impact player Suryakumar Yadav entered the game in the second inning. Punjab also made 2 changes to their team at the same time. Matthew Short was replaced by Nathan Ellis, and Sikandar Raza by Kagiso Rabada. Ellis joined the team as a key contributor in the second inning.
