The largest donation from an alumnus of any institution in the nation, Nandan Nilekani gave 315 crore to IIT Bombay

Nandan Nilekani, co-founder of Infosys, has donated Rs 315 crore to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. Nilekani did this on the 50th anniversary of his graduation from Donation Institution. He made the announcement on social media.

Nilekani has already made a Rs 85 crore donation to IIT Bombay. If both of their contributions are added together, the total amount is Rs 400 crore. This is the largest donation ever made to any institution in the country by any of its alumni.

Research and the development of the startup ecosystem will cost money.

In a press release on June 20, IIT Bombay stated that Nilekani’s donation was made to support world-class infrastructure. Additionally, the field of engineering and technology research should be promoted. At IIT Bombay, we’ll use this money to create one of the best ecosystems for tech startups.

Nilekani stated: “We are celebrating our 50 years of affiliation with IIT Bombay.”

IIT Bombay has been the cornerstone of my life, according to Nandan Nilekani. My early years were shaped by this institution, which also set the groundwork for my journey.

I am commemorating 50 years of working with this esteemed organisation. I’m honoured to speak up and help shape its future. In order to pursue a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Nilekani enrolled at IIT Bombay in 1973.

Bombay IIT is the subject of this donation.

Nilekani went on to say that this donation to IIT Bombay is more than just a financial one. It is my way of paying homage to the location that has given me so much and to its dedication to the students who will go on to change the world.

Nilekani and Professor Subhasish Chowdhary, the director of Bombay IIT, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this donation in Bengaluru. According to Chaudhary, this historic gift will firmly place IIT Bombay on the path to world leadership. We are overjoyed with Nandan Nilekani’s contribution to the Institute as one of our esteemed alumni.
