Nawab Malik reached Arthur Road Jail in judicial custody for 14 days

Maharashtra government minister Nawab Malik arrested for allegedly buying land from the family of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and he sent to 14-day judicial custody. After which he shifted from ED custody to Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail on Monday evening. The ministers of Maharashtra will stay in the jail in which many dreaded criminals already imprisoned. Malik’s ED custody extended till March 7.

After getting medical, he was again adduce in the court. There was an argument for about 20 minutes in the court regarding further custody of Malik. Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh appeared for the ED, while Amit Desai and Tarak Sayyed represented Malik.

Anil Singh urges court to send him to judicial custody

During the hearing in the court, Additional Solicitor General Anil Singh urged the court to send him to judicial custody and not seek extension of his custody, which was accepted by the judge. However, despite this, Malik’s lawyer Tarak Sayyed filed an application opposing his custody. In an earlier hearing, Malik’s custody extended after the public prosecutor had placed before the court a confidential statement related to the 1993 bomb blasts.

ED’s grip on family too strong

After Nawab Malik, now his family has started tightening the noose. Today his son Faraz Malik called to the ED office for questioning. However, on Tuesday, Faraz had sent a letter to the ED seeking a week’s time.

Nawab Malik discharged from the hospital on Monday evening

Nawab Malik admitted to Mumbai’s JJ Hospital after complaining of abdominal pain on February 25 and discharged on Monday evening. After this, he brought back to the ED office in Ballard State, Mumbai. He is in ED custody till March 3 here.

Nawab Malik accused of not cooperating in investigation

During ED’s custodial interrogation, the officials told that Nawab Malik was not cooperating in the interrogation. Meanwhile, news came that his health had deteriorated and he admitted. Then came the update that private doctors and experts of AIIMS Delhi would be consulte to the ED regarding his health. Meanwhile, Malik’s health improved and he discharged today. Malik has two sons and two daughters. The names of the sons are Faraj and Amir, while the names of the daughters are Nilofar and Sana.

These are the allegations against Malik

Neeraj Kumar, assistant director of ED in Mumbai, said in a statement, “Nawab Malik has been found guilty of an offense punishable under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002. Therefore, to exercise the powers given to me. In sub-section (1) of section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (15 of 2003), I shall refer to Mohd. Nawab, Mohammad Islam Malik and he arrested on 23 February 2022 at 14.45.
