Williamson, Saudi will not play; First ODI in Hyderabad on 18 January
The team for the T20 series against India has been revealed by the New Zealand board. Test captain Tim Southee and limited-overs captain Kane Williamson will not play in the series. In their absence, Mitchell Santner, a left-arm spinner, will serve as captain. The first of a three-match T20 series will begin on January 27.
Neither Williamson nor Saudi will play in the ODI series against India. On January 18, the ODI series will get underway. India hasn’t yet revealed its lineup for the series against New Zealand, however.
4 key players not on the team
Four important players were left off the New Zealand team. Along with Williamson, the team will also be without Southee, Trent Boult, and Jimmy Neesham. Martin Guptill has been let go from the team in addition to these. Due to injuries, Ben Sears, Kyle Jameson, Matt Henry, and Adam Milne were all unavailable for selection. Under Santner’s leadership, New Zealand has competed in ten Twenty20 matches. One match was lost, eight were victorious, and one was a tie.
Benjamin Lister, a left-handed pacer, has earned a spot in the squad of 15 athletes for the first time. Henry Shipley, who made his ODI debut against Pakistan, has also been added to the T20 squad at the same time. For New Zealand, which is traveling without some of its key players, both players can make their T20 debut.
