Summer vacations will begin in all schools in Odisha tomorrow, the state government announced, moving up the breaks due to the oppressive heat.

The Information and Public Relations Department announced today that starting on April 21, all schools, including public, private, and aided institutions, will be closed for the summer.

It stated that a decision regarding the schools’ reopening date would be made soon.

Odisha, summer vacations typically start the first week of May.

Due to the heat, the state government closed schools for five days from April 12 to April 16, as well as again on April 19 and 20.

“Students who struggle academically require special attention. We want to ensure that all schools in Odisha receive 100% results as part of the “zero fail mission,” according to Mr. Dash.

He claimed that from May until the middle of June, when students will be out of school for the summer, schools will rotate teachers out to teach classes.

Teachers do show up for rotational duty at schools even during the summer. To raise the calibre of the students, these teachers would enrol in additional courses, the minister said.
