The discussions took place shortly after German Chancellor Olaf Scholz touched down in Delhi for a two-day trip. This was his first trip to India since taking office in December 2021, ending Angela Merkel’s record 16-year reign as leader

Today’s extensive discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz were aimed at strengthening the two countries’ cooperation in the fields of clean energy, commerce, and innovative technology.
The discussions took place shortly after German Chancellor Scholz touched down in Delhi for a two-day trip. This was his first trip to India since taking office as chancellor of Germany in December 2021, ending Angela Merkel’s historic 16-year reign.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz was given a ceremonial welcome by PM Modi earlier at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the two men met.

Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA), stated in a tweet that Chancellor Scholz’s visit presents a chance to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic cooperation between Germany and India.

Olaf Scholz is welcomed by Prime Minister @narendramodi at Hyderabad House for a bilateral meeting. The meetings will centre on fostering stronger connections in defence, advancing the Green and Sustainable Development Partnership, and strengthening bilateral cooperation “Mr. Bagchi tweeted something.

By 11:50 am, the Modi-Scholz negotiations started.Officials stated that the war between Russia and Ukraine as well as the circumstances in the Indo-Pacific area are anticipated to play a significant role in the conversations between the two presidents.

The expansion of cooperation in trade, defence, clean energy, climate change, and new technologies will also be a major emphasis of the talks, according to them.

On November 16 of last year, PM Modi and Chancellor Olaf Scholz had private discussions in Bali, an Indonesian resort city, outside of the G20 summit.When PM Modi visited Berlin on May 2 of last year for the sixth India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations, the two leaders first met (IGC).On June 26 and 27, PM Modi travelled to the Alpine fortress of Schloss Elmau in southern Germany to attend the G7 group’s yearly conference.

PM Modi was invited to the G7 conference while Germany was the host nation by Chancellor Scholz.In recent years, there has been a strengthening of ties between India and Germany in a number of significant areas.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz is scheduled to leave Bangalore on Sunday at around 5:30 p.m. from the southern city.
