In Mumbai, the two were coworkers before they began dating. When her family objected to their relationship, the couple fled to Delhi and moved into a Mehrauli apartment.

According to police sources, a guy allegedly strangled his live-in spouse over the course of 18 days, dismembered her body into 35 parts, and dumped the remains in Delhi’s Mehrauli forest. Every day, he would leave at 2 am, according to sources, to dispose of the body parts.

The offender has been given a five-day police detention sentence. After a dispute, Aftab Ameen Poonawala, 28, is accused of strangling his live-in lover Shraddha Walkar on May 18. According to sources, he then cut her body into 35 pieces and purchased a 300-liter refrigerator to store them. He scattered the pieces throughout the Mehrauli forest over the course of the following 18 days, they added.

“While working in Mumbai, the couple fell in love. After facing opposition from their families, they moved to Delhi by the end of April or the first week of May. Mid-May, while they were still residing in the nation’s capital, they got into a heated argument about marriage, and he strangled her “South district Additional DCP-I Ankit Chauhan said.

He said, “The accused had kept the woman’s remains in a refrigerator and disposed of them on several occasions.

Shraddha, 26, met Poonawala while working at a call centre for a large corporation in Mumbai. They began dating and later resided together. The couple eloped and arrived in Delhi when her family rejected their relationship. They moved into a Mehrauli apartment to begin with.

Shraddha’s friend told her brother in September that her phone had been turned off for more than two months. Her family also looked at her social media accounts, but there had been no recent posts.

The victim’s father, Vikash Madan Walker, went to the Mumbai police in November and reported his daughter missing.

The victim’s last known location was discovered in Delhi during the first investigation, and the case was handed over to Delhi police as a result.

A link between his daughter and Poonawala was disclosed to the police by the victim’s father, who also accused him of being responsible for his daughter’s abduction.

When Vikas Madaan Walkar visited Delhi on November 8 to see how his daughter was doing, he discovered a lock on her apartment.

He went to the Mehrauli Police and reported an alleged kidnapping.

Mr. Walkar claimed in his lawsuit that Shraddha had previously told him that Poonawala routinely beat her.

This led to Poonawala’s detention by police on Saturday. According to police sources, he admitted throughout the investigation that they constantly quarrelled because Shraddha wanted to wed him. Additionally, he admitted to killing her and disposing of her body to the police.

Poonawala is the subject of a murder investigation by the police.

Although the police claimed to have found some remains in the forest, it is unknown if these are human remains. They claimed that the accused, who was reportedly trained as a chef, did not yet have the knife that he used.

“A girl was killed by her boyfriend in Delhi and put in the fridge in 35 parts in a heartbreaking tragedy. Her lifeless body’s fragments were scattered over the metropolis. What sort of monsters exist in modern society? The accused has been detained by the police; he needs to receive serious punishment “Swati Maliwal, the head of the Delhi Commission for Women, stated in a tweet.
