President Murmu Criticizes the Promotion of Indian Language Education

President Murmu praised the advancements made by women in a number of fields while delivering a speech at the 36th convocation of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

New Delhi: President Murmu stated on Monday that imparting education in Indian languages will produce knowledge and science of the highest calibre.

President Murmu praised the advancements made by women in a number of fields, including education, in his remarks at the 36th convocation of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). He also mentioned that 55% of the students who received degrees, certificates, and diplomas were female.

“I am pleased to note that among those who received degrees, certificates, and diplomas from the university, 55% of the students were female. More than half of the students who have won gold medals today are female students. She said, “I am pleased to see the advancement of women in various sectors, including education.

2,79,918 students received their diplomas, certificates, and degrees on Monday.

According to the president, IGNOU has done a great job of promoting “access to higher education.”

“The university has made a significant contribution to giving students from remote areas, rural areas, and economically disadvantaged groups opportunities for higher education. Many students have pursued higher education while juggling their work, family, and other responsibilities thanks to the academic programmes offered by IGNOU, she said.

According to the NEP (National Education Policy) – 2020, the nation wants to reach a gross enrollment ratio of 50% by 2035. To accomplish this, IGNOU is making a significant contribution, she continued.

She claimed that NEP-2020 aims to turn India into a world knowledge superpower.

The emphasis on being proud of India’s heritage and making Indian languages the medium of instruction is among the NEP’s many significant recommendations, according to the president.

She continued by saying that encouraging education in Indian languages would lead to cutting-edge, top-tier knowledge and science.
