President Joe Biden nominated Radha Iyengar Plumb, who is currently the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Secretary of Defence, to this prestigious position, which will begin in June 2022.
The US Senate has confirmed Radha Iyengar Plumb, a national security expert, as the Deputy Under Secretary of Defence for Acquisition and Sustainment, making her the latest Indian-American to be named to a key position by the Biden administration.
President Joe Biden nominated Radha Iyengar Plumb, who is currently the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Secretary of Defence, to this prestigious position, which will begin in June 2022.
The Senate confirmed Radha Iyengar Plumb to be the Deputy Under Secretary of Defence by a vote of 68 to 30 on Tuesday, according to a tweet from the US Senate Periodical Press Gallery.
She previously held the position of Global Head of Policy Analysis at Facebook and was the Director of Research and Insights for Trust and Safety at Google before being named the Chief of Staff.

Prior to this, Radha Iyengar Plumb worked as a Senior Economist for the RAND Corporation, where she worked to enhance the measurement and evaluation of readiness and security initiatives across the Department of Defence.
She also held a number of senior staff positions on national security matters at the White House National Security Council, the Department of Defence, and the Department of Energy.
Her postdoctoral work was completed at Harvard, and she began her career as an assistant professor at the London School of Economics.
According to Ms. Plumb’s bio, which was made public by the White House in June of last year, she holds a B.S. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. and M.S. in Economics from Princeton University.
Ms. Plumb describes herself as an experienced leader with strong technical analytical abilities and a track record of working in the government, academia, and industry in her LinkedIn profile.
