Sara Ali Khan explained the lessons she discovered following Love Aaj Kal’s downfall (2020). She added that she had forgiven herself after seeing the movie in order to go on.

Sara Ali Khan has been out front about the fact that her films from the year 2020 weren’t as good while promoting her upcoming movie, Gaslight. The actor admitted that three years ago, following the failures of Love Aaj Kal and Coolie No 1, it became imperative for her on a personal level to reflect and comprehend what transpired. Sara Ali Khan was paired with Kartik Aaryan in the Imtiaz Ali-directed film Love Aaj Kal. A lot was expected of the love drama, especially since Sara’s father, actor Saif Ali Khan, co-starred with Imtiaz in Love Aaj Kal (2009).

The more recent movie included two sets of lovers who were separated by time, just like the 2009 film in which Deepika Padukone also starred. Sara Ali Khanalso said that she made mistakes in the way she acted during the filming of Love Aaj Kal because she was unable to see things clearly as they actually were. Sara Ali Khan acknowledged that her performance in Love Aaj Kal was “awful” earlier this year.

She stated, “I think that I’ve realised that it’s not just my performance in Love Aaj Kal, but that there are a lot more things that I need to see first,” to Anupama Chopra in an interview with Film Companion. I’ve always been the type of person who doesn’t try to hide her weight when she feels it. I prefer to view things as they are, but I believe that in 2019, for a variety of reasons, I was unable to do so. The mirror was not truly being seen by me for what it was.

“I was overly gushing and trying to attract attention. I was a little too loud. I tried to please everyone. I erroneously believed that others liked me. Being gregarious and being candid are two different things. I frequently step over that boundary,” she added. “Love Aaj Kal’s failure showed me that, it’s not going to fly,” she continued. You must be honest, first with yourself in the mirror so that you may make the necessary corrections, and second by being kind to yourself. Loving Aaj Kal taught me to forgive myself so I could perform greater job.

Sara Ali Khan co-stars in Pawan Kripalani’s Gaslight with Chitrangda Singh and Vikrant Massey. On March 31, Gaslight will make its Disney+ Hotstar debut.
