Initially, Virat Kohli’s innings of 50 runs off 34 balls enabled RCB score 174/6 in 20 overs. For DC, Kuldeep Yadav and Mitchell Marsh both claimed two wickets. The ongoing dispute between Kohli and DC’s director of cricket Sourav Ganguly also got worse throughout the game. In the 18th over of DC’s chase, Ganguly, who was in his team’s dugout, was given the death glare by Kohli. Ganguly did not shake hands with Kohli after the game as is customary.

Former player S Sreesanth believes that the rivalry might heighten the intensity of the match as fans get ready for both sides to square off again. This game will be intriguing because Virat and Dada are playing. The game appears to be going well, and there is some excitement both on and off the field. these match reveals a lot about the kind of bond that Virat and Sourav have, and games like these inspire players to perform to their highest potential, he said.

Kohli’s ongoing drama in IPL 2023 just doesn’t end with Ganguly as it creeped into another match. In a hotly contested affair, Royal Challengers Bangalore came out on top in Match 43 of IPL 2023 to defeat Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs, in Lucknow. Chasing a target of 127 runs, KL Rahul-led LSG were bowled out for 108 in 19.5 overs, with Josh Hazlewood and Karn Sharma taking two wickets each for RCB. Krishnappa Gowtham top-scored for Lucknow with a knock of 23 runs off 13 balls.

Initially, RCB posted 126/9 in 20 overs, courtesy of a knock of 44 runs off 40 balls by Faf du Plessis. Meanwhile, Kohli also played a crucial knock of 31 runs off 30 balls. For LSG’s bowling department, Naveen-ul-Haq took three wickets, Amit Mishra and Ravi Bishnoi scalped two dismissals each.

Faf du Plessis’ knock of 44 runs off 40 balls helped RCB reach 126/9 in the first 20 overs. At the same time, Kohli contributed a significant 31 runs in 30 balls. For the LSG bowling unit, Naveen-ul-Haq took three wickets, Amit Mishra took two, and Ravi Bishnoi took two each.

With unpleasant incidents occurring during and after the game, the exhilarating aspect of the match received some more spice. The established animosity between both players was heightened when Kohli and the head coach of the LSG, Gautam Gambhir, nearly got into a fight once more. The pair were integral parts of the Indian team that won the ODI World Cup in 2011, and they were former teammates.

The catalyst was a brief exchange between Kyle Mayers of LSG and Kohli. When Gambhir interrupted their conversation to lead Mayers away, the two were spotted conversing. The former KKR captain was then heard making remarks about Kohli and even tried to charge up to him before being stopped by many players, including KL Rahul. Nevertheless, Gambhir persisted with his aggressive approach. The two had to be again separated when Kohli and Gambhir were seen arguing.

Gambhir mocked RCB fans last month after LSG’s close victory over them by putting a finger to his lips to stifle their cheers. Then, as RCB won, the players similarly and somewhat boisterously celebrated each wicket. In several instances, after taking a catch, Kohli made more noise and even put his finger to his mouth.

The altercation was sparked by another incident when Kohli motioned for Mohammed Siraj to bowl bouncers to Afghan spinner Naveen-ul-Haq during the LSG’s chase in Lucknow. Amit Mishra, a non-striker, and the umpires had to separate Kohli and Naveen after they both observed it and spoke with each other briefly. The former RCB captain moved to his position at cover as they continued speaking distantly. Mishra was also seen pleading with Kohli to be cool.

Then, during the customary post-match handshakes, Kohli and Naveen again got into a verbal spat, and Glenn Maxwell was forced to arbitrate. Rahul and Kohli were spotted conversing as well. Additionally, Kohli used the same silencing gesture Gambhir had attempted in Bengaluru while speaking with Rahul, and he repeated it. Naveen was even invited to join their talk by Rahul, but he declined.
