In New Delhi: Laxmi Singh, an IPS officer, has been named the new head of the Noida Police Department by the Uttar Pradesh government, making her the first woman to lead a Police Commissionerate in the state. On Wednesday, the officer from the 2000 batch who took Alok Singh’s post in Gautam Buddh Nagar is anticipated to take over. A list of 16 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in the state who will be transferred and posted was released by the UP government late Monday night, including those for the new commissionrates of Varanasi, Agra, and Prayagraj.

The state currently has 7 police commissionerates, a political system that was first established in 2020.
Alok Singh, an IPS officer from the 1995 batch, has been assigned to the DGP office in the state capital of Lucknow as an additional director general of police (ADGP).
