The Supreme Court will hear 14 opposing parties’ petition on April 5 against the “arbitrary” use of the Enforcement Directorate ( ED ) and CBI.

The parties, which include the Congress, DMK, TMC, and RJD, are asking for pre- and post-arrest guidelines to be followed by the Enforcement Directorate ( ED ) and CBI.
According to news agency PTI, 14 political parties, led by the Congress, filed a petition with the Supreme Court on Friday protesting the “arbitrary” targeting of opposition leaders by federal investigation agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The appeal will be heard on April 5 by a panel of judges led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud. The panel noted the arguments made by senior attorney AM Singhvi, who was representing the opposition parties DMK, RJD, Bharat Rashtra Samiti, and Trinamool Congress.

“Ninety five per cent cases are against opposition leaders. We are asking for pre-arrest guidelines and post-arrest guidelines,” Singhvi said, news agency PTI reported.
The parties want the central investigation agencies, likethe Enforcement Directorate ( ED ) and CBI , to follow pre- and post-arrest norms.
