On Wednesday, the Aap administration in Delhi unveiled its annual budget. Kailash Gahlot, the finance minister for Delhi, announced the construction of three distinctive double-decker flyovers.

Double decker flyover: what is it?
The suggested design places the Metro rail on the upper level and the vehicles on the lower deck. According to government estimates, these flyovers have been built in a way that will help taxpayers save about 121 crore rupees.

1) Yamuna Vihar to Bhajanpura

2) Crossroads from Azadpur to Rani Jhansi

3) Pul Prahaladpur to Saket.

The budget for transportation in Delhi
The famous phrase by Colombian economist Gustavo Petro, “A developed country is not a place where the poor have cars; it is a place where the rich use public transportation,” was used by state finance minister Gahlot in his speech regarding the budget.

The government of Delhi, led by Arvind Kejriwal, announced plans to build 26 new flyover, underpass, and bridge projects throughout the city. They include initiatives like the elevated road at Najafgarh Phirni and the Barapullah Phase 3 flyovers from Punjabi Bagh to Raja Garden and Sarai Kale Khan to Mayur Vihar.

For projects involving roads and bridges, FM Gahlot suggested an overall budget of 3,126 Crore.

The budget paper states that there are 300 electric buses among the 7,379 vehicles now operating in Delhi. According to FM Gahlot, Delhi would have 1900 electric buses by the end of 2023, reducing annual CO2 emissions by 1.07 lac tonnes.
