Under pressure to resign, Brij Bhushan Singh Makes Serious Charges Against Bajrang Punia in “Arrange a Girl”

Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh claimed that wrestler Bajrang Punia was heard asking to “arrange a girl” to frame him.
Singh further asserted that due to the protests, all wrestling activity has been halted for the past four months amid persistent demonstrations against him. He was accused of sexual harassment by several female wrestlers, which prompted the Delhi Police to file two first information reports (FIRs) against him in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directive, one of which is filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The WFI president made his remarks a day after declaring that he would resign from the Parliament if asked to do so by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, or BJP President JP Nadda. Brij Bhushan, a six-term member of parliament, claimed he hasn’t spoken to PM Modi regarding the pending allegations brought against him.
Additionally, he claimed that the protests had caused a four-month halt to all wrestling activity. “I say hang me, but don’t stop wrestling; don’t play with the lives of the next generation of people. Whoever organises the cadet nationals, let it happen, he continued.

Singh recently denied all accusations and claimed that the wrestlers protesting against him are ‘victims’ and that their campaign is ‘politically motivated’ in an interview with a prominent Hindi news outlet.

At the police station in Connaught Place, two FIRs have been filed. According to sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act that deal with outraging modesty, etc., the first one relates to claims made by a victim who is underage, DCP (New Delhi) Pranav Tayal stated. Tayal claimed that the second FIR was filed in order to conduct a thorough inquiry into the claims made by the adult complainants under the pertinent sections.

What Are Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s Charges?
He was accused of sexual harassment by several female wrestlers. For almost 12 years, he has been the WFI’s director-general. As instructed by the Supreme Court, the Delhi Police submitted the two first information reports (FIRs).
Under the strict Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, one of the FIRs concerns complaints of sexual harassment made by a juvenile. To conduct a thorough investigation into the claims made by the adult complainants under the pertinent sections, a second FIR was filed.
