When Satya Pal Malik served as the governor of Jammu and Kashmir in 2018, he terminated a contract with Reliance General Insurance
Satya Pal Malik, a former governor of Jammu and Kashmir, has been called in by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to testify as a witness in a case involving alleged corruption by Reliance General Insurance on April 28.
According to Satya Pal Malik, the CBI has requested his presence at the Akbar Road guesthouse of the news agency in the heart of Delhi for “certain clarifications.”
They want my presence because they need certain clarifications. I have given them the dates from April 27 to 29 when I will be available because I’m going to Rajasthan, Satya Pal Malik said, according to PTI.

When he was the governor of Jammu and Kashmir in 2018, Satya Pal Malik cancelled a contract by the firm owned by businessman Anil Ambani.
The CBI named Reliance General Insurance and Trinity Reinsurance Brokers as defendants in an initial information report (FIR) regarding an alleged scam involving the implementation of a medical insurance programme for Jammu and Kashmir government employees and their families.
Following Satya Pal Malik allegations of fraud in the insurance scheme, the CBI took action.
The programme, which affected about 3.5 lakh employees, was introduced in September 2018 but was cancelled by Satya Pal Malik a month later.
Mr. Malik had stated at the time that state government employees wanted the contract to be terminated because they believed it to be “fraudulent,” and he too came to the same conclusion after carefully reviewing the information.
Mr. Malik had stated, “I myself went through files and when I came to the conclusion that the contract was awarded incorrectly, I cancelled it.”
In order to learn more about the claims Satya Pal Malik made against the insurance companies and a separate instance of alleged corruption in awarding the contract for civil work at the Kiru hydroelectric power project, the CBI spoke with him in September of last year.
Satya Pal Malik’s remarks last week regarding the Pulwama attack in 2019 set off a political uproar. In an interview with the news outlet The Wire, Satya Pal Malik asserted that security lapses contributed to the Pulwama attack, which resulted in the deaths of 40 members of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). He claimed that after the government rejected the paramilitary force’s request for an aircraft, the soldiers were forced to commute by road.
