The Election Commission of India (ECI) taking serious note of the “plummeting level” of campaign discourse in the run-up to the Karnataka assembly polls has issued an advisory to all national and State political parties and candidates to exercise caution and restraint in their utterances during campaigning and not to vitiate the election atmosphere.

The Karnataka assembly elections will take place on May 10 in a single phase, with the vote tallying set for May 13.

Assam CM Sarma claims that DK Shivakumar is a member of Tipu Sultan’s family in Karnataka.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, criticised state Congress president DK Shivakumar in front of a throng at Gonikoppa, Karnataka, by claiming that he is a descendant of Tipu Sultan, the 17th-century ruler of Mysuru.

“Tipu Sultan’s family includes DK Shivakumar. Karnataka will turn into a PFI valley if the Congress wins back power, he predicted.

According to DK Shivakumar, the Congress would gain 140 seats while the BJP will lose more than 60.

On the Kharge assassination plan, CM Bommai states that they will treat the situation seriously.
