According to Omar Abdullah, the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jammu & Kashmiris intended to improve the situation in the nation rather than Rahul Gandhi’s reputation.

Banihal: Omar Abdullah, the leader of the National Conference (NC), joined Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra on Friday in Banihal, Jammu and Kashmir. He claimed that the purpose of the march was not to improve Gandhi’s reputation, but rather to alter the condition and mood in the nation.
The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir stated that he does not like to discuss the position taken by the Congress about the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.

The NC leader informed reporters upon his arrival in this highway town, 120 km from Srinagar, that the Bharat Jodo Yatra was not intended to enhance Rahul Gandhi’s reputation but rather to improve the situation in the nation.

Mr. Abdullah claimed that his concern for the nation’s image led him to join the yatra. We have not joined this for the sake of a certain person, but rather for the sake of the county’s reputation, he remarked.

The NC leader added that Mr. Gandhi started the yatra out of concern for attempts to incite communal conflict and attack minorities in the nation rather than for personal motives.

He remarked, “This government may be courting Arab nations, but the fact remains that there is no representative in this cabinet from the country’s greatest minority.

“The ruling party may not have a single member of parliament from the Muslim community, either in the Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha, for the first time since India’s independence. It exhibits their mentality, “Added he.

Mr. Abdullah stated the following in reference to the Congress’ position on the repeal of Article 370: “We will argue in court that Article 370 should be reinstated. We know our case is strong because of how slowly the government is proceeding with the petition hearing.”

He stated that eight years have passed since the last elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

“2014 saw the most recent elections for the assembly. The time between the two elections in Jammu & Kashmir was the longest ever. Even during the height of militancy, this was not the case “explained he.

The government, according to Mr. Abdullah, wants the people of Jammu and Kashmir to beg for elections.
