Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Mangarh Dham, a major pilgrimage site of tribals in Banswara district of Rajasthan, on November 1. The influence of Mangarh Dham is believed to be in 99 assembly seats of three states. There are 27 seats in Gujarat, 25 in Rajasthan and 47 in Madhya Pradesh. All these seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes. The influence of the tribal community is also considered in about 40 Lok Sabha seats in these 3 states. Assembly elections in Gujarat are due later this year. Whereas in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan elections will be held exactly after one year. In view of Mission 2023, PM’s visit to Banswara is considered very important.

In view of the upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections, this visit of PM is very important. The borders of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh are close to here. Elections in Gujarat are due later this year. Whereas in Rajasthan Madhya Pradesh elections are to be held next year. Through this religious event, BJP is trying to send a message to the tribals of these three states that how much their party cares for the tribals.

The impact of this meeting of PM will be most visible on the tribal belt of southern Rajasthan. There are BJP MLAs in only 2 out of 5 seats in the tribal-dominated district of Banswara. BJP has only 1 out of 4 seats in Dungarpur. BJP does not have a single seat out of 2 in Pratapgarh. Although BJP is strong in Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Pali, Sirohi. Experts say that the tribals of adjoining areas including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra have been demanding from the government on many issues for a long time. Among these, the demand for keeping a separate column of tribals in the census and tribal code is prominent. Forming a common policy regarding the reservation of people belonging to tribal areas, declaring Mangarh Dham a monument of national importance, protecting the land rights of tribals living in forest areas, preserving their culture, special budget from the center to the tribal area, employment Such demands are important.

This program is being organized jointly by the Union Ministry of Culture and an NGO. In this, the Chief Ministers of all the three states were invited. Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of State Meenakshi Lekhi and Union Minister of State for Culture Arjun Ram Meghwal from Rajasthan were also present in the program. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also shared the stage with Prime Minister Modi. Gehlot is seen making political attacks on the central government and the PM every day. Gehlot remains an attacker on Modi on many issues of Rajasthan including ERCP.

Why is Mangarh important for tribals?
Mangarh Dham is considered to be the center of faith and devotion of the tribals. This place has a very painful history attached to it. It is also known as Jallianwala Bagh of Rajasthan. In fact, on November 17, 1913, the British surrounded the hill of Mangarh Dham and fired indiscriminately, in which about 1,500 tribals were martyred. The tribals fought for freedom under the leadership of the saint Govind Guru of their community.
