Arvind Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, spent more than 45 crore rupees renovating his home, the BJP claimed on Wednesday, accusing him of extravagant hypocrisy and drawing vehement rebuttals from the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that included videos of collapsing ceilings.

AAP leader Sanjay Singh responded to the BJP by saying, “The Prime Minister, who calls himself a fakir, is getting a house built for himself with 500 crore.”

Sambit Patra, a spokesman for the BJP, claimed that Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the AAP, had broken his campaign promise to uphold sincerity and straightforwardness. He referred to him as a “Maharaja,” or king, and claimed that he possessed a “lust for luxury and comfort.”

Without providing any proof, Mr. Patra also claimed that Arvind Kejriwal had offered media outlets between 20 and 50 crore to suppress the story, but they had turned down his offer.

He cited documents that demonstrated how expensive Vietnamese marble, pre-built wooden walls, and lakhs of rupees worth of curtains had been installed in Mr. Kejriwal’s home. According to him, just one curtain cost more than 7.94 lakh.

At a press conference, Mr. Patra stated, “This is the tale of a shameless king.

Earlier speeches in which he had criticised politicians for residing in ostentatious homes and taking advantage of other amenities at taxpayer expense were contrasted with Mr. Kejriwal’s extravagant spending. Additionally, he had stated that he was happy with a four- or five-room home and did not require a larger one.

In the same way that the AAP leader had urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clarify any lingering questions about his educational background, Mr. Patra urged Arvind Kejriwal to hold a press conference and address all inquiries about the renovation of his home.

Mr Kejriwal did not respond immediately to the allegations. His party, which has almost daily clashes with the BJP, accused it of concealing the condition of the house Mr Kejriwal was assigned and posted videos showing the dilapidated state of the Chief Minister’s home prior to renovation.

Friend Donald Trump’s three-hour visit cost Rs 80 crore. The chief ministers of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh buy themselves aeroplanes worth 200 crore. AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar tweeted that “no channel has the guts to debate this.”

“Arvind Kejriwal was given a bungalow that was built in 1942, had less than one acre, and had three roof collapses. His parents’ room’s roof once collapsed, as did the location of a Janata Durbar. The cost of painting and repairing the Lieutenant Governor’s bungalow, which is spread out over 6 acres, is greater than the price of constructing a home for Delhi’s Chief Minister, she claimed.

Ms. Kakkar said, “Sir BJP’s media is saying that Arvind Kejriwal ji has built a palace worth 45 crores for himself,” referring to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, the BJP-led government at the center’s liaison to the administration of the capital. You take this palace and give Arvind ji your run-down residence so that discussions about public issues can occur.

Sanjay Singh, the leader of the AAP, claimed that the controversy had been stoked to divert attention from more pressing matters. “The Prime Minister, who describes himself as a fakir, is having a 500 crore house built for him. The home where he currently resides was renovated for 90 crore, he claimed.
