6 June 2025: You know, there’s been a lot of buzz about the new ‘Housefull 5’ flick, and I finally got a chance to catch it. It hit theaters on June 6, 2025, and seriously, with Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh leading the charge, you just know it’s going to be a laugh riot. Tarun Mansukhani directed it, and Sajid Nadiadwala produced it, and they promised us a crazy mix of comedy, utter chaos, and even a murder mystery twist – all set on a fancy cruise. Sounds wild, right?

Story: Cruise, Comedy, and a Murder Mystery

So, the story kicks off with this guy, Ranjit, throwing a massive bash for his 100th birthday on a cruise, but then… poof, he dies! But here’s the twist: his hologram pops up and announces his 69 billion pound fortune goes to his heir, Jolly. And then, bam! We’ve got three “Jollys” – Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan – all claiming to be the real deal, with their wives (Nargis Fakhri, Sonam Bajwa, Jacqueline Fernandez) in tow. And just when you think it can’t get crazier, a murder happens, and suddenly, all the Jollys are suspects. The comedy quickly turns into a “whodunit,” and everyone’s under suspicion. It’s truly a tangled web of fun!

But here’s the absolute coolest part that makes this movie stand out: they actually made two versions, ‘Housefull 5A‘ and ‘Housefull 5B,’ each with a totally different ending! They’re showing them separately, which is such a unique way to watch a movie. It really makes you want to see both, doesn’t it?

Comedy and Screenplay: Laughs with Lags

Now, let’s talk about the laughs. The first half is classic ‘Housefull’ humor – exactly what you expect. Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan are just on fire with their comedic timing and those witty lines. There are some sweet nostalgic nods to the earlier films, and they handle the adult comedy really cleverly, so the laughs just keep coming. Honestly, I was cracking up! However, I have to admit, the second half felt a bit… slow. The story started to drag a bit, and some characters just felt like they were there to fill space. At 165 minutes, it’s a long one, and you feel it. But thankfully, it picks up again with a surprisingly impactful climax.

Cast Performance: Star Power and Standouts

The cast is massive, with 17 lead actors, and that’s definitely a huge draw. Jackie Shroff and Sanjay Dutt absolutely kill it in their roles. And Akshay Kumar? His signature expressions and comedic flair are just chef’s kiss. Riteish Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan are also super impressive. The female leads bring a lot of glam, though their roles do get a bit smaller in the second half. Johnny Lever, as always, delivers some truly memorable comic relief. And Nana Patekar’s cameo? It really leaves a strong impression. Bobby Deol’s late entry also throws in a nice twist and keeps the suspense bubbling.

Music, Direction, and Production

As for the music, direction, and production, Sajid Nadiadwala’s story and Tarun Mansukhani‘s direction really shine in the first half. But I think they struggled a bit in the second, trying to balance the slapstick comedy with the murder mystery. It’s a tough tightrope walk! The soundtrack, which is usually a highlight of the franchise, only has one song that really stuck with me, ‘Laal Pari.’ The others are pleasant, but easily forgettable. And get this: ‘Housefull 5’ is apparently India’s most expensive comedy, shot over 90 days on that huge cruise ship with a massive production budget. That’s pretty wild to think about!

Verdict: Worth Watching for Housefull Fans

So, what’s the verdict? If you’re a ‘Housefull‘ fan, you’ll definitely want to see this. It starts strong, gives you plenty of laughs, and has a pretty engaging premise. It does lose a little steam in the middle, but that satisfying and surprising climax makes up for it. The whole double-ending thing is a really unique experiment, and with such a huge star cast, it’s a must-watch if you love light, over-the-top Bollywood comedy and all that ensemble chaos. It’s definitely worth a one-time watch for a good dose of entertainment!
