Tragic incident in Michigan shocks community; suspect held on $25 million bond.
In a shocking turn of events at a McDonald’s outlet in Michigan, a 26-year-old female employee fatally stabbed her manager after being sent home early from work. The accused, identified as Afeeni Muhammad, allegedly attacked her manager, 39-year-old Jennifer Harris, with a knife — stabbing her nearly 15 times in broad daylight.
The incident took place on July 12, and according to reports, the confrontation stemmed from repeated clashes between the two. Afeeni was reportedly upset that Harris kept sending her home early due to poor job performance.
Just a day before the incident, on July 11, Muhammad had posted a video on her social media account expressing deep anger and frustration towards her manager. In the video, she accused Harris of being disrespectful and spreading negativity at the workplace.
“She sent me home early yesterday, and again today. I’m telling you, this isn’t a joke. She’s a mean person,” Afeeni said in her post. She went on to claim that Harris disrespected others at the store, spoke as if everyone was beneath her, and showed no courtesy or empathy, even to her employees.
“She thinks just because she’s a mother, she can talk to people however she wants. But that’s not right,” Muhammad continued in the video, adding that she tried to stay peaceful at work and denied claims that she had lashed out at anyone.
According to a report by Daily Mail, tensions reached a boiling point on Thursday, when Harris once again sent Muhammad home following an argument. Moments later, Muhammad allegedly returned to the McDonald’s outlet with a knife she retrieved from her car.
She then walked back inside and launched a brutal attack on Harris, right in front of customers and staff. One customer passing through the drive-thru reportedly witnessed the stabbing and fired a warning shot in the air to stop the assault.
Assistant Prosecutor Hengeveld told ClickOnDetroit that Muhammad used a knife with a blade longer than three inches and stabbed Harris nearly 15 times, leading to her death.
After the attack, Muhammad attempted to flee the scene, but the same customer who fired the warning shot managed to stop her and held her until police arrived. She was taken into custody immediately.
Muhammad was presented in court on Friday, where she was formally charged with first-degree murder. The judge set her bond at $25 million (approximately ₹200 crore), indicating the severity of the crime.
The tragic incident has left the community stunned, and investigations are ongoing.
