According to News Corp Australia, a source said on Monday that staff at Hancock Prospecting-owned Roy Hill were eligible to win a $100,000 Christmas bonus on 6PR Radio’s John Hughes Rumor File.

The Perth radio programme was informed by a source that “apparently last week Gina urged all Roy Hill personnel to stand-by for an important announcement.”

She declared that she would draw 10 names from a hat and call them.

Each of those people would get a $100,000 Christmas bonus.

An unnamed Roy Hill employee called the radio station on Tuesday to corroborate the rumour. The employee claimed that one of the winners had only worked for the mining company for three months.

According to Forbes, iron ore was the foundation of Gina Rinehart’s wealth. After taking over as executive chairwoman of her father’s financially precarious business, Hancock Prospecting, in 1992, Rinehart, the daughter of iron-ore explorer Lang Hancock, rebuilt it.

The Roy Hill mining operation, which started shipping to Asia in 2015, is Hancock’s most valuable asset. The mining tycoon also owns the second-largest cow herd in Australia, with a portfolio of holdings spread across the nation.

According to the most recent rich list published by the Australian Financial Review, the mining magnate is already the richest person in Australia, with a net worth of 34 billion Australian dollars.

Gina Rinehart was reportedly also sighted at Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign kickoff on Wednesday at Mar-a-Lago in Florida, according to The Guardian.
