New Delhi: In searches conducted around Pune and New Delhi over the course of two days, the police uncovered an incredible 1,100 kg of the illegal substance mephedrone (MD), also known as “Meow Meow.” The drug’s estimated worth is more than ₹ 2,500 crore.
The police claim that 700 kg of mephedrone were seized along with the arrest of three drug smugglers in Pune, marking the start of the operation. Following their interrogation, 400 kg more of the synthetic stimulant were seized from godown-style buildings in the Hauz Khas neighborhood of Delhi.

Mephedrone was kept in storage in Pune, namely in the Kurkumbh MIDC area, in another sizable shipment.

Due to its enormous size, this drug raid ranks among the biggest in the nation and the greatest narcotics seizure ever made by Pune Police in Maharashtra.

According to preliminary investigations, the contraband was being moved from the units situated in the Kurkumbh MIDC to storage facilities located in New Delhi. Five people have been taken into custody by the police as a result of the operation; two of them are being questioned, while the other three are couriers.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar referred to the detained persons as “courier boys” and noted that they had prior charges against their records.

According to Commissioner Kumar, the police are actively looking into the matter and working closely with other organizations to break down any possible links to the drug trade.

Anil Sable, the proprietor of the Pune plant where the medicines were kept, is one of the people being held in relation to the case. In the morning, Sable was captured in Thane, Maharashtra, near Dombivali.

Additionally, the police believe there may be a connection between the people in custody and infamous narcotics dealer Lalit Patil. The degree of Patil’s involvement in the case is still being investigated.
