On April 3, 2022, Abbasi attempted to force his way into the Gorakhnath temple grounds and used a sickle to attack security guards, injuring two Provincial Armed Constabulary constables (PAC). He was quickly subdued by additional security personnel and taken into custody. The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad carried out a probe (ATS)
