Another student from a coaching facility commits suicide in Kota

Police reported that a second pupil at a private tutoring facility in Kota committed suicide on Friday afternoon. The fourth such fatality occurred in Kota in December.

Three kids, ages 17, 18, and 19, who were enrolled in private coaching institutes, committed themselves to Kota on December 12 in two separate occurrences.

The victim, according to Kota deputy superintendent of police (SP) Amar Singh, was 18 years old and a native of the Uttar Pradesh town of Bareilly. On a Friday afternoon, he was discovered hanging.

The student was residing in a private hostel in the Jawaharngar police station’s Indira Vihar neighbourhood.

According to police, the event was discovered when the student didn’t answer his family’s phone calls. One of his pals was asked by his family to check on him. His companion went to his hostel and knocked on the door several times, but nobody answered.

The hostel warden was then called, and she attempted to open the door as well but was unable. The youngster was dangling when another student who resides in the dormitory entered the room and pushed through the door, the officer reported.

At 4.40 p.m., the police were notified. According to authorities, the family has been notified and the body has been transported for a post-mortem.

A 16-year-old student from Uttarakhand is said to have committed suicide last November by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his PG room at Indra Vihar in Kota. A 16-year-old NEET candidate from Andaman and Nicobar also committed suicide in July.

The mounting death toll has cast doubt on these coaching centres’ whole coaching, admissions, and competitive exam preparation processes.

Following such incidents, the state government has decided to introduce a bill to regulate coaching institutes, mandating the holding of an aptitude test or competitive exam prior to enrollment, prohibiting the exaltation of top performers, and requiring institutes to have their balance sheets audited.
