Apple’s first AR/VR headset will likely be called Apple Reality Pro

In 2023, Apple is anticipated to release its first AR/VR headset, followed by a more affordable model in 2024 or 2025. Since the Cupertino-based tech giant will be releasing the first of its kind, there have been many reports and rumours regarding the product and its features. During the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023, which runs from June 5 to June 9, the AR/VR headset was anticipated to be unveiled. However, a recent report suggested that the company may be divided internally over the wearable technology. According to an analyst, the device’s mass production has now been postponed until Q3 of 2023.

Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst, predicts that Apple’s AR/VR headset will likely experience yet another delay. Kuo now believes that the supply chain will dramatically increase device assembly in the middle to end of the third quarter of this year, or in the months of August and September.

Due to the delay, Kuo estimates that fewer than the initial expectations of more than 500,000 units—more like 200,000 to 300,000 units—will be assembled and shipped this year. Due to the headset’s high price, which is rumoured to be around $3,000 (roughly Rs. 2,48,000), during a recession, Kuo claims Apple is not overly optimistic about the headset’s profits. In order to increase production, Kuo continues, Apple has also made concessions to some specifications, including its weight target.

Kuo also wonders if the official announcement of the headset will be delayed as a result of the mass production delays. According to a previous report from Bloomberg, the headset will be unveiled in June at the business’s yearly WWDC event. The recent announcement of the WWDC 2023 dates has made it more likely that the AR/VR headset, which is most likely to be called Apple Reality Pro, will be unveiled at the conference.

According to a few recent reports, there were some differences at the Cupertino headquarters regarding certain aspects of the AR/VR headset. The business could release the headset as a standalone device and use its exclusive Apple silicon chipsets that they use for MacBooks. Apple may also introduce it as a “copresence” device that enables users to participate in meetings and videoconferences in augmented reality.
